The Permit Holder on the Grand
(Verses sound like the melody of North to Alaska with the chorus sounding like Davey Crockett)
Walter Yankauskas is a very brave lad,
With patience and timing he got a permit on the Grand
With a rye sense of humor and a smile upon his face,
He can row a boat down rapids with style and with grace
(Chorus)
Walter, Walter Yankauskas the permit holder on the Grand.
In 2007 Walter planned a great float
With his wife Rande and a crew to row some boats
A couple of kayakers and "duckies" two or three
To keep us safe and keep the pace of peaceful canyoning
(Chorus)
He sat at the computer for months in a row
To study water levels and the canyons ebb and flow
He charted phases of the moon and then one clear starnight
Sat up past 7:30 to watch the full moon light
(Chorus)
He selected all his buddies with love and great care
And knew that he could count on them to drink lots of beer
When he hit Nevilles Rapid, they were close at hand
To save his rum and his butt and get to dry land.
(Chorus)
Joe was on the oars and pulled on in to scout
The mighty Lava Falls has made many scream and shout
Joe was snatched right from the boat and Walter went alone
And the boat flipped on over in the white and frothy foam.
(Chorus)
He knew he took a chance in a 16 foot boat
With the lord of Lava Falls always nearby to gloat
While they flipped the boat, they both did float and soon it was done
Such a crazy day not to take the "sweetie run".
(Chorus)
Walter may not be a man of many words
But when he speaks we listen, he will always be heard
He tells his tale of heat and sun and blue and white umbrella
He appears to be the coolest one of all the canyon fellas.
(Chorus)

The Groover Song
(This one is set to Gilligan's Island Theme Song)Just sit right down on a metal can with a normal plastic seat
And drop a turd that won't be heard but really stinks in the heat
John was the major groover tech, his locations picked with style
He looked for a place with privacy and view for a river mile.
The set up always needed help, the buckets placed just right
So everyone could wash their hands, even in the dark of night.
Sometimes you'd hike up on some rocks with prickly pear in view
Sometimes you'd wander down a lonely path where you didn't have a clue
But your nose would help to point the way, the groover had a mighty smell,
Especially in the hot day light-those flies can go to hell!
The groovers got filled up real fast, until they almost blew! (Pee-U!)
Because of the courage of the fearless crew they continued to "make doo"
The "long drop" was the choicest way to ever take a dump
The short drop was real scary-when poop could stick to your rump.
And when the trip was over, and we had to quit
Canyon Reo came along and hauled away all our shit.
